RectorSeal 87026 Pro-Fit 1/2" Quick Connect 90° Elbow, Push-to-Connect Refrigerant Fitting
Half-inch suction tubing is stiff, and a 90° turn in a confined space is where it fights back. The RectorSeal 87026 makes that turn as a fitted joint rather than a forced bend: a brass 90° body with a push-to-connect port on each leg, seating 1-1/4" of tube on each side with no nut to tighten. On a suction line that carries the bulk of the system's refrigerant volume, that mechanical seal — double O-ring plus stainless grip ring, rated to 870 psig and 250°F — replaces a brazed ell and the heat, purge gas, and fire exposure that come with one.
Is a 1/2" 90° Elbow the Right Fitting for This Turn?
The case for an elbow gets stronger as tubing gets larger. At 1/2" the minimum bend radius is wide enough that many real-world turns — around a rim joist, into a lineset cover, up a wall from a ground-mounted condenser — simply cannot be swept without either flattening the tube or building the turn out into the room. The 87026 keeps the turn tight and the bore full.
Each leg seats 1-1/4", and neither is tightened — the fitting has no nuts. What the corner does need is room to present the tube straight into each port and enough clearance to see both sight windows, because a leg that goes in on an angle will not reach full depth. Support the tubing on both approaches so the elbow is not carrying the weight of an unsecured run.

Where is the 87026 typically installed on a mini split?
On the suction side, at turns the tubing cannot sweep — around a rim joist, entering or leaving a lineset cover, or on a vertical rise from a ground-mounted condenser. It is a routing fitting rather than a splice.
Is there a tightening step on both legs of the 87026?
No. Both ports are push-to-connect with no nuts. Mark 1-1/4" on each tube, push until the grip ring clamps, verify through the sight window, and tug-test. The torque figures on RectorSeal's data sheet apply to the flare-nut sockets and service valves, not to elbows.
Can the 87026 be used to avoid a tight tubing bend?
That is its purpose. Forcing 1/2" tubing inside its minimum bend radius flattens the tube and restricts flow; the elbow makes the turn with a full-size machined bore instead.
Does the 87026 come apart for rework?
Yes — the Pro-Fit design supports quick-release removal with the disconnect clip in the 87048 kit. Recover the charge first and follow RectorSeal's published procedure before releasing a joint.
Is the 87026 rated for the same 870 psi as the straight fittings?

Should the elbow be supported after installation?
