RectorSeal 87020 Pro-Fit 1/2" Quick Connect Union Coupling, Push-to-Connect Refrigerant Fitting
The RectorSeal 87020 handles the 1/2" O.D. suction line found on larger single-zone mini splits, multi-zone indoor branches, and light commercial split equipment. It is a straight push-to-connect union — no nuts, no wrench, no torque value to hit. Cut the line square, de-burr it, mark 1-1/4" on each end, push until the stainless grip ring clamps, and tug to confirm. The patented double O-ring stack does the sealing, holding at 870 psig with a 250°F continuous operating rating, on a diameter that would otherwise mean a long braze and a nitrogen purge.
Is a 1/2" Union Coupling the Right Fitting for Your Lineset?
Half-inch tubing is a suction line in almost every application it appears in, paired with a 1/4" liquid line on many 12,000–24,000 BTU ductless systems. Because it is a suction line, it runs cold and it sweats: check that the section you plan to splice is not pitted or corroded where the O-rings will seat, since surface damage under insulation is easy to miss until the joint is already made.
The 87020 seats 1-1/4" per side, the same depth as the 3/8" union. Because there is no nut and no tightening step, the whole joint rests on two things: full insertion, and a clean tube end. Pull the insulation back far enough to cut square and deburr properly, confirm the tube is home through the sight window, tug-test each side, then re-seal the insulation over the finished joint to control condensation on a cold suction line.
