RectorSeal 87024 Pro-Fit 1/4" Quick Connect 90° Elbow, Push-to-Connect Refrigerant Fitting

The RectorSeal 87024 changes the direction of a 1/4" refrigerant line by a fixed 90 degrees without a bender, a torch, or a brazed joint. It matters most where a tube cannot physically be bent — a short stub coming out of a wall sleeve, a tight turn behind an indoor head, a service loop with no room for a proper radius. Bending 1/4" tubing in cramped quarters is how liquid lines get kinked; the 87024 removes the bend entirely, replacing it with two push-to-connect ports that each seat 1" of tube and need no wrench at all.

Is a 1/4" 90° Elbow the Right Fitting for This Turn?

Use an elbow when the available space will not allow a swept bend at the tube's minimum radius, or when the existing line is already kinked at a corner and the damaged section has to come out. A 90° fitting is a deliberate choice, not a default — a gentle field bend is still the better option when there is room for one, because it introduces no additional joints.

When there is not room, the 87024 needs 1" of clean, straight tube inserted into each leg, which means roughly an inch and a quarter of undamaged tubing approaching the fitting from both directions. That is the practical constraint: the turn itself takes no space, but the two straight approaches do. Neither leg is tightened — there is no nut on the fitting — so a square cut, a clean deburr, and full insertion on both sides are the whole job.

When should I use a 90° elbow instead of a union?

Use the elbow when the line has to change direction and there is not enough space for a swept bend at the tubing's minimum radius. A union is for splicing a straight run. Where a proper bend will fit, a bend is still preferable — it adds no joints.

How much straight tube does the 87024 need on each leg?
