Mueller Streamline 1/2" OD Refrigerant Push Fitting Coupling, American Made, ACP10144
The Mueller Streamline ACP10144 is a code-recognized 1/2" OD push coupling for contractors who need a flame-free refrigerant joint that will pass inspection. It is UL 207 Listed, certified to the International Mechanical, International Residential, and Uniform Mechanical Codes under ICC-ES PMG-1625, made in the USA, and covered by a 10-year limited warranty. Inside the forged brass body, dual HNBR O-rings and a stainless steel BackBite™ grip ring create a permanent 700 PSI seal on 1/2" copper — a strong fit for mini split installers, multifamily retrofit crews, and service companies working in buildings where hot work permits slow the job down.
Is a 1/2" Push Fitting Coupling the Right Size?
Choose the ACP10144 when the copper you are joining measures 1/2" outside diameter. On ductless systems, 1/2" commonly serves as the suction (vapor) line on mid-capacity mini split heads, and it also appears on longer or larger-capacity liquid line runs. It fits rigid ACR tubing as well as the soft annealed coils used in pre-insulated line sets.
Larger tube means more insertion: the 1/2" size requires a full 1-1/8" of clean, round tube on each side of the coupling. Inspect the sealing area for scratches or flattening — especially on soft copper that has been bent or clamped — and leave at least 3" between the coupling and any existing brazed joint. If brazing nearby is unavoidable afterward, Mueller calls for at least 5" of separation with a wet wrap or 10" unprotected.
Ideal for: 1/2" mini split vapor line splices, line set extensions on ductless and VRF installs, and inspected commercial or multifamily work where flame-free, code-listed joints are preferred.
Need a larger line size? Step up to the Mueller Streamline 5/8" Push Fitting Coupling, ACP10145 for 5/8" suction lines and larger mini split vapor lines.
Line size suggestions are general guidelines only. Always confirm actual tube OD, follow the equipment manufacturer's line sizing, and install per Mueller Streamline instructions and local codes. Request free sizing assistance, contact Budget Heating, or call 813-885-7999.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the ACP10144 come with installation instructions?
Yes. Mueller prints six easy-to-follow installation steps on every bag, and the full procedure, including the insertion depth chart, is in the submittal under Specifications & Manuals.
What changes when moving from the 3/8" ACP10143 to the 1/2" ACP10144?
Beyond the larger tube size, the ACP10144 needs a deeper 1-1/8" insertion on each side versus 1" for the 3/8" size. Pressure rating, refrigerant approvals, and joint spacing rules are the same.
Will the ACP10144 seal on soft annealed copper from a line set coil?
Yes. It is approved for ASTM B280 and ASTM B1003 soft annealed tube as well as hard-drawn tube. Straighten and reround the end first, and make sure the sealing area is free of dents or clamp marks.
How close to an existing brazed joint can the ACP10144 be installed?
Mueller requires at least 3 inches between a push connection and an existing brazed or soldered joint. The brazed joint must be cooled, and any residual brazing alloy or debris removed from the tube before insertion.
Is the ACP10144 UL listed and code approved?
Yes. It is UL 207 Listed (Refrigerant Fitting SA45895) for the United States and Canada and certified to the IMC, IRC, and UMC through ICC-ES PMG-1625.
How should the system be leak tested after installing this coupling?
Pressurize with dry nitrogen to at least 50% of the system's maximum operating pressure, up to 700 PSI, then check with soap solution or a tracer gas and electronic detector. Find nitrogen supplies under brazing gases and line flush.
