RectorSeal 87033 Pro-Fit 1/4" to 3/8" Quick Connect Reducing 90° Elbow, Push-to-Connect Refrigerant Fitting

The RectorSeal 87033 does two jobs in one brass body: it turns the line 90 degrees and steps it from 1/4" to 3/8" at the same time. Done conventionally, that corner takes a reducing coupling, a separate ell, and a short nipple between them — three brazed joints where there could be one fitting and two push connections. The 87033 collapses all of it into a single component with a patented double O-ring and grip-ring seal at each port, rated to 870 psig with a 250°F continuous operating temperature and installed without a torch, a bender, or a wrench.

Is a 1/4" to 3/8" Reducing Elbow the Right Fitting Here?

This fitting earns its place where a size change and a direction change land in the same few inches of line — a 1/4" liquid line arriving at an equipment stub that faces sideways and runs 3/8", a retrofit where the replacement unit's port diameter and orientation both differ from the old one, or a corner in a chase too tight to fit a reducer and an elbow end to end. If the transition and the turn are far enough apart to handle separately, a straight 87030 reducer plus a plain elbow will usually be easier to route.

The two legs seat to different depths, which is the detail most often missed on a reducing fitting. The 1/4" side takes 1" of tube and the 3/8" side takes 1-1/4". Mark each tube to its own figure — using one depth for both is how a leg ends up short of the sealing surfaces. Neither leg is tightened; the grip rings set on insertion, so confirm both through the sight windows and pull firmly on each before pressurizing.

What does a reducing elbow do that a plain elbow cannot?

It changes line size and direction in the same fitting. A plain elbow keeps the diameter constant through the turn; the 87033 takes 1/4" tube in one leg and 3/8" out the other, which saves fitting a separate reducer alongside it.

Which end of the 87033 is the 1/4" side?
