RectorSeal 87034 Pro-Fit 3/8" to 1/2" Quick Connect Reducing 90° Elbow, Push-to-Connect Refrigerant Fitting
The 87034 sits in the middle of the Pro-Fit reducing elbow range, bridging 3/8" to 1/2" through a fixed 90° turn. That pairing shows up constantly on multi-zone work, where a branch run in one diameter meets a trunk or an indoor unit in another and the connection point faces a wall. Rather than brazing a reducer to a nipple to an ell, the 87034 makes the whole transition as two push connections. Brass throughout, patented double O-ring and grip-ring sealing, 870 psig design pressure and a 250°F continuous operating rating.
Is a 3/8" to 1/2" Reducing Elbow the Right Fitting Here?
Both legs of this fitting seat to the same 1-1/4" depth, which makes it the most forgiving of the three reducing elbows to mark and assemble — one measurement covers both tubes. What is not forgiving is confusing the ends: 3/8" and 1/2" tubing look close enough in a dim attic that it pays to measure rather than eyeball, especially since the two legs are not interchangeable.
Plan about an inch and a half of clean, straight tube approaching each port. Neither leg has a nut and neither is torqued — the grip rings clamp as the tube goes in. The quality of the joint comes down to three things you control: a square cut, a thorough deburr inside and out, and a sealing surface with no scoring where the O-rings land.

What sizes does the 87034 join?

What is the difference between the 87034 and the 87031?
Both step 3/8" to 1/2". The 87031 does it in a straight line; the 87034 does it through a 90° turn. Use the straight reducer where the run continues in the same direction.
Is a reducing elbow counted as one fitting or two for pressure drop?
It performs the function of two fittings, and pressure drop through a combined component is not simply the sum of a separate reducer and elbow. Where line sizing is tight, calculate equivalent length using the equipment manufacturer's guidance rather than estimating.
