RectorSeal 87019 Pro-Fit 3/8" Quick Connect Union Coupling, Push-to-Connect Refrigerant Fitting
The RectorSeal 87019 is a 3/8" push-to-connect union coupling that joins two lengths of 3/8" O.D. refrigerant tubing without a torch, flare block, or swaging tool. Cut the line, deburr it, push both ends home, and the fitting's patented double O-ring and grip-ring stack seals the joint at up to 870 psig. Because 3/8" is the most common liquid-line diameter on residential ductless equipment, this is the size most installers reach for first when splicing a damaged lineset, extending a run, or transitioning between two tubing types. It is intended for EPA 608-certified technicians working on copper and coated aluminum linesets.
Is a 3/8" Union Coupling the Right Fitting for Your Lineset?
Size a Pro-Fit union by the measured outside diameter of the tubing, not by the nominal size printed on the lineset jacket or the port size at the equipment. The 87019 accepts 3/8" O.D. tube on both ends, which on most residential ductless systems is the liquid line and, on smaller single-zone units, occasionally the suction line as well. If the line measures larger, the fitting will not seat.
Insertion depth is what makes the joint hold. The 3/8" body requires 1-1/4" of clean, round, deburred tube on each side, and nothing is tightened afterward — the depth mark and a firm tug test are the entire quality check. That means you need roughly two and a half inches of straight, undamaged tubing at the splice point, something worth confirming before you cut. Out-of-round tube, a burr left inside the wall, or a scored surface where the O-rings land are the three things that turn a five-second connection into a leak call.
Ideal for: Repairing punctured or kinked 3/8" liquid lines, extending mini split linesets during a relocation, joining copper to coated aluminum tubing, service work in attics and crawlspaces where an open flame is not an option, and occupied-space retrofits in schools, medical offices, and multifamily buildings.
Need a larger line size? Step up to the RectorSeal 87020 Pro-Fit 1/2" Quick Connect Union Coupling for 1/2" suction lines, or drop down to the 87018 1/4" union for small-diameter liquid lines.
Fitting selection is based on measured tube outside diameter and system operating conditions. Installation must be performed by an EPA 608-certified technician in accordance with RectorSeal's published instructions and applicable mechanical codes. The 87019 ships as a single assembled union — brass body with the internal seal stack and grip-ring collars factory-installed. No adhesives, no flux, no filler rod, and no nitrogen purge are required to make the connection. RectorSeal packages this part 10 per case for shops that stock the 3/8" size in volume. Pair it with the 87048 Pro-Fit Support Kit, which supplies the depth-marking gauge and the disconnect clips needed to release the fitting if a joint has to be reworked.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which lineset diameter does the 87019 connect?
The 87019 is a union coupling for 3/8" outside diameter tubing on both ends. Measure the actual O.D. of the line rather than relying on the size printed on the lineset jacket, since insulation labeling and equipment port sizes do not always match the tube itself.
Does the 87019 need to be tightened after the tube is pushed in?
No. A Pro-Fit union has no nuts and nothing to torque. RectorSeal's procedure is cut, de-burr, mark the insertion depth, push until the grip ring clamps, then gently pull on the tube to confirm it is seated. The torque figures on the Pro-Fit data sheet apply to the flare-nut fittings — sockets and service valves — not to unions.
Do I need a torch or brazing gas to install the 87019?
No. The Pro-Fit system is entirely flame-free. There is no brazing, flaring, swaging, solder, flux, or nitrogen purge involved, which is what makes it practical in occupied buildings and in spaces where hot work would require a permit or fire watch.
Is the 87019 approved for R-410A and R-32 systems?
Yes. The ICC-ES PMG-1616 certificate lists R-22, R-32, R-134a, R-290, R-410A, R-507, and R-600a among the approved refrigerants, at an 870 psig design pressure and a 250°F continuous operating temperature.
How much tubing insertion does the 3/8" union require?
Each side of the 87019 needs 1-1/4" of clean, round, deburred tube fully seated in the body. The Pro-Fit depth gauge included in the support kits marks the correct insertion line on the tubing before assembly.
Can I reuse an 87019 after disconnecting it?
The fitting is designed for quick-release removal with the Pro-Fit disconnect clip so a joint can be reworked or a component swapped out. Inspect the sealing surfaces and the tube end before reassembling, and follow RectorSeal's published instructions for any reuse.
