The 87043 is the 3/8" service valve in the Pro-Fit range — the size that matches the most common ductless equipment connection, which makes it the one most likely to be specified into a build or fitted as a replacement. The valve brazes into the unit's circuit through a copper stub, bolts to the cabinet through a two-hole flange, and presents a capped service port and a capped operating stem. The lineset side is what makes it a Pro-Fit part: a 3/8" push-to-connect port that takes 1-1/4" of bare copper, with no flare to cut and no nut to torque.
Is a 3/8" Service Valve the Right Part for This Job?
Two things determine whether this is the correct part rather than a socket. First, the equipment side is a plain copper stub that must be brazed — so this valve gets installed at the machine, not dropped into a lineset run. Second, RectorSeal supplies the service valves on an OEM basis, which puts them in a different category from the five general-line fittings. If the goal is simply to land a lineset on an existing flare port, the 87037 socket does that job without any brazing at all.
Where the 87043 does apply, the installer's side of the work is short. The lineset goes into the push port at 1-1/4" of insertion: cut square, deburr inside and out, mark with the depth gauge, push until the grip ring clamps, and pull firmly to confirm. Nothing on that port is torqued. Gauges go on the capped service port; the stem cap stays on until the system is being worked.

Which side of the 87043 connects to the lineset?
The push-to-connect port, identifiable by its release collar and sight window. The opposite end is a plain copper stub for brazing into the equipment — no tubing pushes into that side.
Does the 87043 need to be brazed?
The equipment side does. The copper stub is brazed into the unit's refrigerant circuit, which is why this is an equipment-mounted part rather than something that drops into a cut lineset. The lineset side needs no heat at all.
What insertion depth does the 3/8" valve's push port use?
1-1/4", the same figure as every other 3/8" Pro-Fit fitting. Mark it with the depth gauge from the 87048 kit and confirm through the sight window.
Can I put gauges on the 87043?

Is the 87043 torqued anywhere?
