RectorSeal 87042 Pro-Fit 1/4" Quick Connect Service Valve, Push-to-Connect Refrigerant Fitting
The RectorSeal 87042 is the equipment-mounted member of the Pro-Fit family. Where the unions splice tube to tube and the sockets adapt to a flare port, this is the valve that mounts to the machine itself: a brass body with a copper stub on the equipment side, a two-hole mounting flange, a capped service port, a capped operating stem, and — in place of the flare connection an installer would normally have to cut — a 1/4" Pro-Fit push-to-connect port for the lineset. It carries the same 870 psig design pressure and 250°F continuous rating as the rest of the line.
Is a 1/4" Service Valve the Right Part for This Job?
This is not an inline fitting. The equipment side terminates in a plain copper stub that has to be brazed into the unit's circuit, and the flange bolts to the cabinet sheet metal — so the valve goes on a machine, not into the middle of a lineset run. RectorSeal offers the service valves on an OEM basis, which is the clearest signal of intent: they are specified into equipment or fitted when an existing valve is replaced, rather than carried as a general-purpose repair part.
What it changes for the installer is the connection at the unit. The lineset goes into the 1/4" push-to-connect port at 1" of insertion — cut square, deburr, mark, push until the grip ring clamps, tug-test — with no flare to cut and nothing on that port to torque. The service port and the stem stay capped until the system is being charged or serviced.
Ideal for: OEM equipment builds specifying push-to-connect lineset connections, replacing a damaged or leaking factory service valve on a 1/4" liquid connection, and installations where eliminating field flares at the unit is the goal from the design stage rather than a field workaround.
Not mounting to equipment? To adapt a lineset to an existing flare port, use the 87036 1/4" socket. To splice tube to tube, use the 87018 1/4" union coupling.
