RectorSeal 87032 Pro-Fit 1/2" to 5/8" Quick Connect Reducer, Push-to-Connect Refrigerant Fitting

The 87032 is the largest straight reducer RectorSeal makes in the Pro-Fit line, stepping 1/2" to 5/8" inline. Both diameters are suction-side sizes, which means this is a transition carrying the bulk of the system's refrigerant volume — and a brazed version of the same joint means a long heat soak on heavy tubing with nitrogen flowing throughout. The 87032 does it cold: two push-to-connect ports, no nuts, no torque, a brass body with patented double O-ring and grip-ring sealing rated to 870 psig and 250°F continuous.

Is a 1/2" to 5/8" Reducer the Right Fitting Here?

This is the top of the reducer range in both directions — there is no 5/8" to 3/4" transition in the Pro-Fit line, because the reducers stop where the sockets and valves do. If your transition involves 3/4" or 7/8" tubing, it has to be handled with conventional fittings.

The two ends seat to different depths: 1-1/4" on the 1/2" side, 1-5/16" on the 5/8" side. That 1/16" gap is small enough to lose by accident and large enough to leave a tube off its sealing surfaces, so set the marking tool separately for each. Neither end is tightened. Support the tubing on both approaches — at 5/8" the line has enough mass that an unsecured run works steadily against the joint — and re-insulate over the finished transition to control condensation.

Ideal for: Suction-side transitions in a straight run on multi-zone and light commercial systems, condenser changeouts calling for a larger suction line, joining mismatched tubing stock on a long extension, and repairs in concealed spaces where flame work is out.
