RectorSeal 87039 Pro-Fit 5/8" Quick Connect Socket, Push-to-Connect Refrigerant Fitting

The 87039 is the largest socket RectorSeal makes, and the largest flare connection the Pro-Fit system addresses. Above 5/8", equipment connections are brazed rather than flared, so there is no port for a socket to thread onto — which is exactly why the sockets stop here while the unions and elbows carry on to 7/8". At this diameter the fitting takes a female SAE 45° flare nut torqued to 46–59 ft-lbs on the equipment side and a 1-5/16" push-to-connect seat on the lineset side, rated to 870 psig and 250°F continuous.

Is a 5/8" Socket the Right Fitting for This Connection?

Five-eighths flare connections belong to the upper end of residential and the lower end of light commercial — three-ton ductless equipment, larger multi-zone condensers, and unitary indoor coils. Flaring 5/8" tubing by hand is the least pleasant version of that job: the tube is heavy, the flare block needs a firm grip, and the torque range that follows is the widest RectorSeal publishes. The socket removes the flaring step and leaves you with one torqued nut and one push connection.

The push end seats 1-5/16", an odd figure worth marking with the gauge rather than a tape, and the flare nut takes 46–59 ft-lbs. Support the lineset near the fitting — a 5/8" line carries enough weight that leaving it unsecured puts a steady load on both connections. Insulate over the finished joint once it is pressure-tested.

Ideal for: Three-ton ductless and light commercial equipment connections, unitary indoor coil hookups with 5/8" flare ports, installs without a flare block sized for heavy tubing, replacing a failed 5/8" field flare, and multi-head jobs where every connection has to be equally good.
