Mueller Streamline 5/8" OD Refrigerant Push x SAE Flare Adapter, American Made, ACP15728

The Mueller Streamline ACP15728 is the largest flare adapter in Mueller's refrigerant brass push fitting line, connecting 5/8" OD copper to a 5/8" flare port without a flaring tool or torch. Big flares are the hardest to make well in the field, and this American-made adapter replaces that step with a factory flare connection whose nut is made to SAE standards and JIS B 8607. It carries a 10-year limited warranty and is rated for 700 PSI on R-410A, R-32, R-454B, and other approved refrigerants, making it a strong choice for installers and service techs working on higher-capacity mini splits and VRF/VRV systems.

Is a 5/8" Push Fitting Flare Adapter the Right Size?

The ACP15728 fits 5/8" OD copper on the push end and a 5/8" flare connection on the other. On ductless equipment, 5/8" flare ports are typically found on the vapor (suction) line of higher-capacity mini splits and multi-zone or VRF/VRV systems. Mueller's push flare adapters stop at 5/8", so this is the top of the range.

The push end needs 1-1/8" of clean, round, deburred tube. On the flare side, oil the flare face lightly and tighten to Mueller's 5/8" range of 49–59 ft-lbs (68–82 N-m), the highest torque in the flare adapter series, without overtightening. If any brazing happens nearby after installation, keep it at least 6" away with a wet wrap or 12" if unprotected.

Ideal for: 5/8" vapor line connections on higher-capacity mini splits, multi-zone and VRF/VRV flare ports, replacing hard-to-make large field flares, and line set extensions that end at a flare connection.

Working on a smaller line? Step down to the Mueller Streamline 1/2" Push Fitting Flare Adapter, ACP15727 for 1/2" flare connections.

Line size suggestions are general guidelines only. Always confirm actual tube OD and flare port size, follow the equipment manufacturer's instructions, and install per Mueller Streamline instructions and local codes. Request free sizing assistance, contact Budget Heating, or call 813-885-7999.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the ACP15728 the largest Streamline push flare adapter?

Yes. Mueller offers Streamline push flare adapters in 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", and 5/8", so the ACP15728 is the largest size available.

How is the 5/8" ACP15728 different from the 1/2" ACP15727?

Both use a 1-1/8" push-end insertion depth. The ACP15728 fits 5/8" tube and flare ports, requires a higher flare torque of 49–59 ft-lbs, and has larger post-install brazing clearances of 6" wet-wrapped or 12" unprotected.

Can I braze near the ACP15728 after it is installed?

Mueller recommends avoiding it. If necessary, keep at least 6" away with a cold wet wrap, or 12" unprotected, and keep soldering at least 1-1/2" away. Heat-barrier spray, gel, or putty can add protection.

Which compressor oils are approved for use with the ACP15728?

Approved oils are mineral oil, POE, PVE, PAO, PAG, and AB, covering the lubricants found in today's mini split, VRF, and split system equipment.

Is the ACP15728 approved for R-454B equipment?

Yes. R-454B is on Mueller's approved refrigerant list, along with R-32, R-410A, R-448A, R-449A, R-1234yf, and others listed on the data sheet.

Can the ACP15728 be installed on R-22 equipment?

No. Mueller states Streamline refrigerant push fittings are not approved for R-22. Use an R-22-approved connection method on those systems.
