Is R-407C the Right R-22 Replacement?
R-407C fits contractors converting R-22 air conditioners and heat pumps who are prepared for a full retrofit. R-407C is completely immiscible with mineral oil, so an R-22 conversion requires a complete oil change to POE. It cannot be added to R-22; the system must be fully evacuated and recharged.
Because it's a high-glide blend, R-407C typically isn't recommended for systems with flooded evaporators. In refrigeration it's a reasonable match to R-22 at medium temperatures but has lower capacity at low temperatures, where R-407A is often the better choice.
