Mueller Streamline 3/8" Liquid Line Filter Drier, 16 Cu In, Braze / Press Fit / Push Fit, RP16653

The Mueller Streamline RP16653 (model SDP-163) is the high-capacity liquid line drier in Mueller's DRYMASTER® FTG x FTG series. It has a 16 cubic inch solid core for systems where moisture, acid, or debris is a real concern. Its 3/8" OD fitting-size ends can be brazed in like a conventional drier. They also go straight into 3/8" press fit fittings, such as Streamline ACR Copper Press, or 3/8" push fit fittings when you'd rather skip the torch. It's compatible with R-410A and other common refrigerants and oils, and it's built for technicians servicing larger air conditioning and refrigeration systems who want more desiccant without going to a larger line size.

Why Choose a 16 Cu In Liquid Line Drier?

A larger desiccant bed gives you more margin. The RP16653's 16 cu in core can absorb more moisture and hold more contaminants before it saturates, which makes it a strong choice after leak repairs, compressor replacements, or any job where the system sat open.

Base the choice on the system's refrigerant charge, line set length, how long the circuit was exposed to air, and any signs of acid or burnout. When any of those lean heavy, the 16 cu in liquid line drier gives you a bigger safety margin than the 8 cu in model.

Ideal for: Larger cooling-only split systems, light commercial AC, reach-in and walk-in refrigeration liquid lines, and cleanup after major component replacement.

Servicing a heat pump? Choose the Mueller Streamline 3/8" Bi-Flow Filter Drier 16 Cu In, RP17391, which has the same braze, press, and push fit ends and filters in both flow directions.

Drier sizing recommendations are general guidelines only. Actual requirements depend on system charge, refrigerant type, contamination level, and service conditions. Request free sizing assistance, contact Budget Heating, or call 813-885-7999.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the RP16653 a good choice after a compressor replacement?

Yes. The 16 cu in core gives you extra moisture and acid capacity, which is useful after a compressor change or any repair where the system was opened.

How does the RP16653 compare to the RP16649?

Both are 3/8" FTG x FTG liquid line driers. The RP16653 holds 16 cu in of desiccant, compared with 8 cu in in the RP16649, and it's only slightly longer, at 8.51" versus 8.16".

Can the RP16653 be used on refrigeration equipment?

Yes. It is a liquid line filter drier rated for -40°F to 160°F and compatible with R-410A and other commonly used refrigerant gases and oils.

Can the RP16653 be installed with a torch, or only with fittings?

Both work. It can be brazed in like a standard drier, or installed flame-free with 3/8" ACR press fittings or 3/8" push fit fittings such as the Mueller Streamline ACP10143 push coupling.

What certifications does the RP16653 have?

Mueller lists it as UL/cUL Listed and conforming to the EU Pressure Equipment Directive and UK Pressure Equipment Regulation.

Does Budget Heating carry a 16 cu in liquid line drier with sweat sockets?

Yes. If you prefer female sweat connections, see the 3/8" sweat liquid line drier, 16 cu in.
