EcoTemp 5 Ton 14.5 SEER2 AC & 120,000 BTU 96.1% AFUE Gas Furnace – 24-1/2" Cabinet System
This is the top of the EcoTemp WFSX gas lineup: the largest condenser paired with the largest furnace. The W5A5S60AKAWA 5 ton R-454B condenser and the 24-1/2 in. W5AM61M24XA coil deliver 60,000 BTU of cooling at 14.5 SEER2 (AHRI 215199592). The WFSX120D066B furnace produces 116,000 BTU of heat at up to 96.1% AFUE. It's built for large homes with big loads in both seasons, such as estate homes and multi-level houses in the Midwest, Northeast, and Mountain West, and for any 5 ton application where the 100K furnace's 97,000 BTU output falls short.
Is a 5 Ton, 120K BTU Gas System the Right Size?
This combination targets homes of roughly 2,400 to 3,000 square feet or more that need maximum single-system capacity for both cooling and heating. Typical candidates are large two-story or walk-out basement homes in four-season climates, and high-elevation homes where the furnace derates 4% per 1,000 ft above 2,000 ft.
At this size, distribution matters most. The 120K furnace moves 1,965 CFM in heating and 5 tons of cooling needs similar airflow, so the return path, filter area, and trunk sizing must support it. If the load calculation shows more than 5 tons, or the home has distinct upstairs and downstairs loads, two zoned systems may be the better design. Start with a Manual J load calculation and a duct review.
Ideal for: Large homes in cold and four-season climates, multi-level houses with finished basements, high-elevation properties, and replacements of an existing 5 ton AC with a 120K furnace.
Need more capacity? This is the largest system in the series. For loads beyond 5 tons, explore other air conditioner, gas furnace & cased coil systems, or ask our team about a two-system zoned design.
Recommended applications are general guidelines only. Actual system requirements depend on insulation, ductwork, climate, elevation, and a proper load calculation. Request free sizing assistance, contact Budget Heating, or call 813-885-7999.

Everything indoors is sized to the 24-1/2 in. "D" cabinet. The WFSX120D066B 120K furnace and W5AM61M24XA coil stack flush to about 70 in. tall. With a cooling airflow range up to 2,240 CFM, the furnace blower has the highest airflow ceiling in the WFSX line, giving installers room to set the airflow a 5 ton coil needs. Add a thermostat, a line set sized for the rated 1-1/8 in. vapor line, and the LP kit for propane homes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do the product manuals say Grandaire instead of EcoTemp?
The W5A5S, W5AM, and WFSX model families are documented in Grandaire-series literature, and the "W" model prefix identifies that brand family. The equipment in this EcoTemp system is the same model shown in those spec sheets and installation instructions.
How long is the warranty on the furnace heat exchanger?
The WFSX carries a 20-year heat exchanger limited warranty for the original residential purchaser. See the warranty certificate for full terms.
What does the 1-year unit replacement warranty cover?
The condenser and furnace each include a 1-year unit replacement limited warranty, in addition to parts coverage. Conditions and limitations are listed in the ICP warranty certificate.
Can the WFSX furnace be installed outdoors or in an RV?
No. The manufacturer states the WFSX is not designed for recreational vehicles or outdoor installation. It is approved for manufactured homes only with the optional mobile home accessory kit.
What condenser fan does the 5 ton W5A5S use?
A 1/4 HP direct-drive motor at 1,100 RPM, the largest fan motor in the W5A5S range, moving 3,900 CFM vertically through a 22.0 sq. ft. coil.
What should be planned before installing a 5 ton, 120K system?
Confirm the load with a Manual J calculation, verify the duct and return capacity for about 2,000 CFM, check that the electrical service can support a 50 amp condenser circuit and a 20 amp furnace circuit, and size the gas line for 120,000 BTU input.
