EcoTemp 2 Ton 15.5 SEER2 Air Conditioner & 40K BTU Condensing Furnace – 14" Slim-Line System
This is the full 2 ton cooling version of the EcoTemp narrow-cabinet package. It combines the W5A5S24AKAWA R-454B condenser, the W5AM24M14XA coil, and the WFSX040A030B furnace in a 14-3/16 in. wide indoor footprint. The AHRI-certified match (AHRI 214913968) rates 15.5 SEER2 for cooling. The furnace delivers 39,000 BTU of heat at 95% AFUE downflow and up to 96.0% AFUE upflow or horizontal. It's a good fit for Sun Belt and mild-winter homes, townhomes, and slab ranches where cooling sets the size and heat is a lighter, secondary load.
Is a 2 Ton System with a 40K Furnace the Right Size?
Two tons (24,000 BTU) of cooling is often matched to homes of roughly 900 to 1,300 square feet. Pairing it with the smallest WFSX furnace makes sense where winters are short: Florida, the Gulf Coast, the desert Southwest, and coastal California. Choosing more heat than you need on a single-stage furnace mostly adds cost.
The cooling load depends on sun exposure, attic insulation, window glass, and duct location, which is especially important when ducts run through a hot attic. The heating side depends on your local winter design temperature. If your calculated heat loss is above 39,000 BTU, step up to the 60K pairing. A Manual J load calculation answers both questions at once.
Ideal for: Warm-climate homes and townhomes, slab-on-grade ranches, rental properties, and narrow closet or alcove installations in southern markets.
Need more capacity? Choose the EcoTemp 2 Ton 16 SEER2 60K BTU Gas System for more heat and a higher cooling rating in a 17-1/2 in. cabinet.
Recommended applications are general guidelines only. Actual system requirements depend on insulation, ductwork, climate, elevation, and a proper load calculation. Request free sizing assistance, contact Budget Heating, or call 813-885-7999.

The coil and condenser in this system are both rated at 2 tons. The 14-3/16 in. coil sets flush on the 14-3/16 in. WFSX040A030B furnace, and the furnace blower's 1,000 CFM maximum cooling airflow covers a 2 ton system. Outdoors, a condenser pad or tie-down kit gives the W5A5S24AKAWA a level base. More EcoTemp sizes are on the EcoTemp brand page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a 40,000 BTU furnace enough heat for a 2 ton home?
In mild-winter climates it often is. The furnace delivers 39,000 BTU per hour. If a load calculation shows a higher heat loss, the 60K and 80K versions of this 2 ton system are better choices.
Can the 14-inch WFSX blower move enough air for 2 tons of cooling?
Yes. The WFSX040A030B's cooling airflow range is 155 to 1,000 CFM at rated static pressure, which covers the typical airflow for a 2 ton system.
What electrical circuit does the W5A5S24AKAWA condenser need?
A 208/230V single-phase supply with a 13.6 minimum circuit ampacity and a 20 amp maximum time-delay fuse or circuit breaker. Use copper wire from the disconnect to the unit.
Can the furnace and coil be installed horizontally in an attic?
Yes. The WFSX installs horizontal left or right, and the W5AM coil is multipoise with a dedicated horizontal drain pan. Follow the installation instructions for clearances, drain traps, and secondary drain pans.
What is the dissipation system that ships with the W5AM coil?
Because R-454B is an A2L refrigerant, the coil includes a factory-installed refrigerant sensor and harness, plus a leak dissipation control board and housing in the parts box. If it detects a leak, the system runs the blower to disperse refrigerant. It is required for installation.
How do I get the 10-year parts warranty?
Register the equipment within 90 days of the original installation, except in jurisdictions where warranty benefits can't be conditioned on registration. Without registration the default parts coverage is 5 years. See the ICP warranty certificate for full terms.
