2.5 Ton EcoTemp R-454B Multi-Positional Cased Coil, W5AM30M14XA
Fitting 2.5 tons of R-454B capacity into a 14-3/16 in. cabinet is the whole point of the W5AM30M14XA. It is the highest-capacity coil EcoTemp builds in the narrow casing, which makes it the answer for a 30,000 BTUH changeout stuck in a chase, alcove or closet that was framed for a 14 in. box and cannot be widened. Stepping up from the 2 ton size brings a 3/4 in. suction connection and a 750 to 1250 CFM airflow rating, while the short 25-13/16 in. body, factory R-454B TXV, dual sloped drain pans and complete A2L dissipation package carry over unchanged.
Is a 2.5 Ton Cased Coil the Right Size?
Nominal 30,000 BTUH puts this coil under 2.5 ton condensers and heat pumps in homes roughly in the 1,200 to 1,700 sq. ft. range, though that figure moves considerably with insulation, glazing and climate. Gross capacity measures 41.5 MBH at 1000 CFM with 67°F entering wet bulb and 45°F saturated suction, and the coil is rated across 750 to 1250 CFM.
Two constraints decide this selection. The first is the AHRI match — the coil has to be the one certified with your specific outdoor unit, or the published efficiency and capacity do not apply. The second is the cabinet opening. Because the 14-3/16 in. casing is narrower than the coil face on the 17-1/2 in. equivalent, air-side pressure drop runs higher at the same CFM. Pull the static pressure drop table from the technical specifications before committing an older blower to 1250 CFM through this coil.
Ideal for: 2.5 ton replacements in narrow utility closets, interior chases and attic platforms; condos and townhomes with framed-in mechanical spaces; and any job where the coil width is fixed but the load has grown past 2 tons.
Need more capacity? Step up to the 3 Ton EcoTemp W5AM36M17XA Cased Coil — note that 3 ton W5AM coils start at 17-1/2 in. wide, so confirm the opening will accept the wider casing.
Recommended applications are general guidelines only. Actual coil selection depends on the AHRI-certified system match, blower capability, duct static, and local design conditions. Request free sizing assistance, contact Budget Heating, or call 813-885-7999.

Note the connection change from the 2 ton narrow coil: suction steps up from 5/8 in. to 3/4 in. while liquid stays at 3/8 in., so size the line set accordingly and swedge the stub-outs to the outdoor unit's recommended line size. The coil matches the 2.5 ton EcoTemp W5A5S30AKAWA condenser and the W5H5S30AKAAA heat pump. Field-supplied R-454B refrigerant is required — the coil arrives with a nitrogen holding charge only.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a 14 in. cabinet really carry 2.5 tons?
Yes. The W5AM30M14XA is rated at 2.5 ton nominal in a 14-3/16 in. casing and measures 41.5 MBH gross at 1000 CFM. It is the largest capacity EcoTemp offers in the narrow W5AM cabinet.
How does the W5AM30M14XA differ from the 2 ton W5AM24M14XA?
Same cabinet dimensions and same 50-ish pound class, but the 3014 adds a half ton of capacity, moves the suction connection from 5/8 in. up to 3/4 in., and shifts the airflow range from 600–1000 CFM to 750–1250 CFM.
What suction line size does the 3014 coil use?
3/4 in. sweat on the suction side and 3/8 in. on the liquid side. The installation instructions direct you to swedge the stub-outs to whatever line size the outdoor unit calls for.
What is the rated airflow range for this coil?
750 to 1250 CFM. Published capacity data is given at 750, 1000 and 1250 CFM, and interpolation between those points is permitted — extrapolation beyond them is not.
Is the expansion valve factory installed or field supplied?
Factory installed and refrigerant specific to R-454B. A TXV screen sits behind the liquid line plug, and the installation instructions warn to always remove the suction line plug first so the screen stays in place.
Does the coil ship with refrigerant in it?
No. It arrives with a holding charge only. Field-supplied R-454B refrigerant, a nitrogen purge during brazing, evacuation and commissioning by an EPA 608 certified technician are all required.
