Mini Split 9,000 BTU Gree Livo 20.5 SEER2 Heat Pump System LIV09HP230V1R32AO, LIV09HP230V1R32AH

This is the efficiency leader among the small Livo R32 systems. The LIV09HP230V1R32AO condenser and LIV09HP230V1R32AH air handler run on 208-230V single-phase power and post 20.5 SEER2 alongside a 12.5 EER2 — the highest full-load cooling efficiency figure in the entire eight-model Livo R32 range. Rated at 9,100 BTU/h cooling and 10,000 BTU/h heating at 47°F, the inverter compressor modulates from 2,388 to 10,300 BTU/h so the head can hold a steady setpoint at very low output. It ships with a wireless LCD remote and built-in Wi-Fi, drawing only 6.5 A in cooling on a 10-amp circuit.

Choosing 9,000 BTU on 208-230V Power

Where the 115V version of this capacity exists to avoid new electrical work, the 230V version exists to deliver the best possible efficiency per conditioned square foot. Its 12.5 EER2 means lower operating cost during peak summer conditions, and its 24 to 41 dB(A) indoor sound range is the quietest of any head in the series. That combination suits new construction, additions, and whole-home mini split projects where a 230V feed is already being run anyway.

Load still governs the selection. Room volume, glazing area and orientation, insulation levels, air infiltration, occupancy, and equipment heat all determine whether 9,000 BTU is generous or marginal for a given room. Sizing against actual load rather than a square-foot rule of thumb matters even more with inverter equipment, because a correctly matched system spends most of its runtime at reduced speed where efficiency peaks — which is exactly where the 20.5 SEER2 rating comes from.

Ideal for: New-construction bedrooms and offices, room additions, guest suites, ADUs, whole-home ductless projects using multiple single-zone systems, and any small zone where minimizing operating cost and sound level is the priority.

Need more capacity? Step up to the 12,000 BTU Gree Livo 19 SEER2 Heat Pump System for larger single rooms needing about a third more output.

Recommended applications are general guidelines only. Actual system requirements depend on insulation, glazing, ceiling height, ambient conditions, occupancy, and internal heat gain. Request free sizing assistance, contact Budget Heating, or call 813-885-7999.

AHRI certification 214779524 applies to this matched pair. The 52.9 lb condenser carries an 18.7 oz R-32 charge pre-set for 25 feet of line set, adding 0.2 oz per foot beyond. Flare connections are 1/4 inch liquid and 3/8 inch gas, allowable pipe length is 10 to 66 feet, and maximum elevation difference is 40 feet. Electrical requirements are modest: 10 A minimum circuit ampacity, 15 A maximum overcurrent protection, and a 10 A suggested breaker on a 187–253 VAC supply. Wi-Fi is included and the optional XE71 wired controller interface is available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the 230V 9,000 BTU model have a higher EER2 than the 115V version?

Operating at 208-230V lets the system move the same capacity with substantially less current — 6.5 A versus 12.5 A in cooling — which reduces electrical losses. The result is 12.5 EER2 for this model against 11.9 EER2 for its 115V counterpart, while both share the same 20.5 SEER2 and 8.8 HSPF2 seasonal ratings.

Can several of these single-zone systems replace one multi-zone system?

Many installers prefer exactly that approach. Separate 1:1 systems give each room fully independent operation, and a failure takes one room offline instead of the whole house. The trade-off is more outdoor units and more penetrations. Compare configurations on our single-zone heat pump mini split selector.

How quiet is the indoor unit in practical terms?

Its 24 dB(A) minimum sound pressure level is the lowest in the Livo R32 series — below the level of a quiet library and generally quieter than typical nighttime background noise in a bedroom. On maximum fan speed it reaches 41 dB(A), which is still the lowest maximum figure of any head in the lineup.

What breaker size does this system need?

Gree lists a 10 A minimum circuit ampacity, 15 A maximum overcurrent protection, and a 10 A suggested breaker size on a two-pole 208-230V circuit. Interconnecting wire between units is 14 AWG, 4 conductor, and main power wire is sized per local code.

Does R-32 require different service equipment than R-410A?

R-32 is a single-component A2L refrigerant, so it is charged as a liquid and cannot be topped off from the vapor phase the way blends sometimes are. Because it is classified mildly flammable, technicians should use A2L-rated recovery equipment, leak detection, and gauges, and follow the procedures in the Livo R32 service manual.

Where should the outdoor unit be located for best performance?

Choose a location with unobstructed airflow through the coil and out the fan discharge, out of direct wall-to-wall reflected heat, and where winter defrost condensate can drain away from walkways. Coastal installations benefit from the unit's blue-fin salt-spray-tested coil, and elevating it on a 16" adjustable outdoor wall bracket keeps it clear of snow, debris, and standing water.
