Mini Split 12,000 BTU Gree Livo 19 SEER2 115V Heat Pump System LIV12HP115V1R32AO, LIV12HP115V1R32AH

At 12,000 BTU the LIV12HP115V1R32AO condenser and LIV12HP115V1R32AH air handler represent the largest capacity Gree offers in the Livo R32 series on 115-volt power — above this size the line moves exclusively to 208-230V. That makes this one ton system the practical ceiling for garages, converted spaces, and older buildings where the panel has no room for another 240V double-pole breaker. It delivers 12,000 BTU/h of cooling at 95°F and 12,000 BTU/h of heating at 47°F at 19 SEER2 and 8.5 HSPF2, modulating from 3,070 up to 13,300 BTU/h on R-32 refrigerant. A wireless LCD remote with I-Feel sensing is included, and Wi-Fi comes standard.

Does a One Ton Head Match Your Space?

Twelve thousand BTU is conventionally called one ton, and it typically serves a single large room or two smaller connected rooms with good airflow between them. The important question is not square footage but how hard the space works the equipment. An insulated garage with a single steel entry door and one window is a very different load than an uninsulated one with a west-facing overhead door, even at identical dimensions.

Slab-on-grade floors, uninsulated overhead doors, high or vaulted ceilings, workshop equipment, and roof exposure all push the requirement upward, while a well-sealed interior space with modern windows may need less than you expect. Because this unit runs on 115V it draws more current than its 230V twin — 14.34 A cooling and 14.64 A heating with a 19 A minimum circuit ampacity — so confirm the panel can support a dedicated 20-amp 115V circuit with adequate wire size for the run length before committing.

Ideal for: Attached and detached garages, workshops, converted porches and sheds, studio apartments, large master bedrooms, above-garage bonus rooms, and retrofits in buildings with a fully subscribed electrical panel.

Need more capacity? Twelve thousand BTU is the largest 115V option in this series, so additional capacity means moving to 208-230V power — step up to the 18,000 BTU Gree Livo 20 SEER2 Heat Pump System.

Recommended applications are general guidelines only. Actual system requirements depend on insulation, door and window area, ceiling height, ambient conditions, occupancy, and internal heat gain. Request free sizing assistance, contact Budget Heating, or call 813-885-7999.

This pairing carries AHRI certification 214779351. The condenser ships with a 17.6 oz R-32 charge covering 25 feet of line set, with 0.2 oz added per additional foot. Connections are 1/4 inch liquid and 3/8 inch gas flare, allowable pipe length is 10 to 66 feet, and maximum elevation difference is 40 feet. At 58.4 lb net the outdoor unit remains a two-person set, and the indoor head is identical in footprint to the 9,000 BTU model, so the same wall plate and line-set penetration approach applies.

Specifications & Manuals

Documentation covers submittal data, series literature, service procedures, owner operation, and replacement parts. Most installations at this capacity use a 1/4" and 3/8" insulated copper line set, and outdoor units mounted off the ground can use a 16" adjustable outdoor wall bracket.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is 12,000 BTU the largest Livo R32 available on 115 volts?

Current draw is the limiting factor. On 115V this system already needs a 19 A minimum circuit ampacity and a 20-amp breaker. Larger capacities would exceed what a standard single-pole residential circuit can safely deliver, so Gree offers 18,000 BTU and above only in 208-230V configurations.

Is this system a good choice for an uninsulated garage?

It can work, but insulation drives the outcome more than capacity does. An uninsulated overhead door and bare block walls can easily exceed a one ton load in summer heat, leaving the system running continuously without reaching setpoint. Insulating the door and ceiling before installation generally produces better comfort than upsizing the equipment.

How does the 115V version compare to the 230V 12,000 BTU model?

Rated capacity and 19 SEER2 efficiency are the same, and both list 8.5 HSPF2. The differences are electrical and in maximum low-temperature heating: the 115V model needs a 20-amp single-pole circuit and produces up to 8,500 BTU/h at 5°F, while the 230V version uses a 15-amp double-pole circuit and reaches 9,100 BTU/h at 5°F.

Does the included remote need line of sight to work?

The wireless remote with LCD display uses infrared, so reliable operation needs a reasonably clear path to the air handler's receiver. For spaces where that is awkward — behind equipment in a shop, for example — the optional XE71 wired controller interface or the standard Wi-Fi app control are better options.

What wire size does the interconnecting cable between units require?

Gree specifies 14 AWG, 4 conductor interconnecting wire between the outdoor and indoor units, with main power wire sized per local code. Direct-burial-rated 14/4 stranded cable is available on our mini split copper and accessories page.

Can this system heat and cool at the same time in different rooms?

No. This is a single-zone 1:1 system — one condenser serving one air handler — so the whole system is in either heating or cooling mode. Independent room control requires a multi-zone system; browse the full range on our ductless mini split systems page.
