2 Ton Goodman 14.5 SEER2 R32 Central A/C Wall Mount Split System GLXS4BA2410, AWST24SU13 Apartment/Condo Type Air Handler
Two tons of cooling out of a cabinet that fits the same closet as a 1.5 ton unit. This Goodman package matches the GLXS4BA2410 R-32 condenser with an AWST24SU13 wall-mount air handler for 24,000 BTU at 14.5 SEER2, AHRI certified under number 215214931. The AWST24 shares the 20-1/4 inch wide chassis used across the smaller wall-mount models, so a property manager stepping up capacity in a two-bedroom unit is not also rebuilding the mechanical closet. Three factory heat options run from 5 kW to 10 kW, the widest strip heat range in the wall-mount lineup.
Is a 2 Ton System the Right Size?
Two tons generally lands in the 900 to 1,300 square foot range for typical construction, which covers most two-bedroom apartments, mid-size condo units, small townhomes, and single-family homes in mild climates with decent insulation. It is also the size that often shows up as a replacement when a 1.5 ton unit has spent every summer running nonstop and never quite catching up on the hottest afternoons.
The variables that shift the answer are the same ones a load calculation asks about: how much glass the unit has and which direction it faces, ceiling height, insulation and duct condition, how many people are in the space, and whether the apartment sits under an unshaded roof. In coastal and Gulf climates humidity control matters as much as raw capacity, and a system sized past the actual load will satisfy the thermostat before it has removed enough moisture from the air.
Ideal for: Two-bedroom apartments and condos, small townhomes, duplex units, and light commercial suites in the 900 to 1,300 square foot range that need the equipment in a wall closet rather than an attic.

Recommended square footage is a general guideline only. Actual system requirements depend on insulation, window area, ceiling height, occupancy, ductwork, and local climate. Request free sizing assistance, contact Budget Heating, or call 813-885-7999.

The 10 kW option is what separates this package from the smaller wall-mount systems, and it is the reason the 2 ton size gets specified in buildings where electric strip heat is the only heat source. Heating elements are installed at the factory, so the kilowatt rating is locked in at purchase and the electrical service has to be sized for the choice. Line set and thermostat are ordered separately from the copper lines and fittings selection.

Prefer to source the pieces separately? The GLXS4BA2410 condenser is sold on its own, as are the AWST24SU1305 with 5 kW heat, the AWST24SU1308 with 8 kW heat, and the AWST24SU1310 with 10 kW heat. For heating produced on the refrigeration cycle rather than strip heat, see the 2 ton GLZS4BA2410 heat pump wall mount system.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can this 2 ton system replace a 1.5 ton wall unit in the same closet?
The AWST24 uses the same 36 inch tall by 20-1/4 inch wide by 16-1/8 inch deep cabinet as the smaller wall-mount models, so the physical opening is generally not the obstacle. What does change is the electrical load and the duct sizing, both of which need to be checked before assuming a straight swap.
Why does this system offer a 10 kW heat option when the smaller one does not?
Goodman offers the 10 kW element on the 2 ton AWST24 chassis only. The larger blower moves enough air to carry that heat output, which matters in all-electric buildings where the strip heat is the entire heating system rather than a supplement.
Is 14.5 SEER2 enough to meet current efficiency requirements?
Minimum SEER2 requirements are set regionally and change over time, and split system air conditioners have different minimums in the North, Southeast, and Southwest. Confirm the current requirement for the installation address before purchasing, since a rating that qualifies in one region may not in another.
Does the AWST24 need a drain pan and float switch?
The air handler has 3/4 inch FPT drain connections, and most jurisdictions require a secondary drain or an auxiliary pan with a float switch when the unit is installed above a finished space. Since a wall-mount unit in an apartment closet is almost always above finished flooring, plan on it and verify the local code.
Can I run the condenser with a different indoor coil?
The GLXS4BA2410 is also matched with standard multi-position air handlers, but the 14.5 SEER2 figure and AHRI reference 215214931 on this page apply specifically to the AWST24SU13 pairing. A different indoor unit produces a different certified rating and needs its own AHRI lookup for permits or rebates.
What kind of thermostat works with this system?
A standard single-stage cooling with electric heat thermostat covers it, wired for compressor, fan, and the electric heat stage. There is no communicating control or ComfortBridge integration on the GLXS4B series, so conventional 24 volt thermostats are the right category.

"SEER2" stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio 2. Specifically, SEER2 is the total heat removed from the conditioned space during the annual cooling season. The M1 testing procedure will increase systems' external static pressure by a factor of five to better reflect field conditions of install equipment. With this change, new nomenclature will be used to denote M1 ratings (including EER2 and HSPF2).
