Daikin FFA09AVJU9 & RXV09AVJU9 — 3/4 Ton R-32 Vista Ceiling Cassette System
This factory-matched Daikin single zone system pairs the FFA09AVJU9 Vista 2x2 ceiling cassette with the RXV09AVJU9 R-32 inverter condenser, delivering 9,100 BTU/h rated cooling and 10,000 BTU/h rated heating at 19.8 SEER2, 12 EER2, and 9.4 HSPF2. The BYFQ60C3W2W white decoration panel is included, which most sellers charge separately for. Because the cassette recesses into the ceiling and the outdoor unit draws only 11.6 amps on a 15 amp breaker, it suits finished rooms where a wall head would be visually intrusive and the panel has little capacity left. A BRC1NRV71 wired wall controller is required and sold separately — this cassette does not include a remote.
Is a 3/4 Ton Ceiling Cassette the Right Size?
At 9,100 BTU/h rated cooling this is the smallest cassette in the Vista range, matched to single rooms in the 300 to 450 square foot band — a bedroom, private office, small conference room, treatment room, or a finished bonus space. The inverter modulates from 4,600 up to 11,000 BTU/h in cooling, so it holds temperature in a small room without the short-cycling that a fixed-capacity unit produces. Heating modulates from 4,600 to 14,000 BTU/h.
Ceiling cassettes carry a constraint wall units do not: you need at least 11-13/16 inches of clear depth above the finished ceiling for the 11-3/4 inch body, a ceiling opening of 23-1/16 to 23-7/16 inches square, and an access panel of roughly 17-11/16 inches square on the electrical box side for service. Verify the plenum before ordering. The condenser also cools only down to 50°F ambient unless the optional wind baffle is fitted, which extends that to −4°F.
Ideal for: Bedrooms and guest rooms, private offices, dental and exam rooms, small salon or spa suites, condo dens, and any finished space with a dropped or accessible ceiling where a wall-mounted head would be an eyesore.
Need more capacity? The 1 ton FFA12AVJU9 steps up to 10,800 BTU/h on the same outdoor cabinet and same 3/8 inch line set. Comparing formats? See our full single zone heat pump mini split range, or read how the ratings are measured in our guide to SEER2.
Recommended room sizes are general guidelines only. Actual requirements depend on insulation, glazing, ceiling height, infiltration, occupancy, and outdoor design temperature. The cassette, the condenser, and the white decoration panel all ship together. What you still need is the BRC1NRV71 controller, a 1/4 x 3/8 copper and wire line set in 15, 25, or 50 feet, and AWG 14 interunit wire. The cassette has a built-in drain pump and float switch, so it can lift condensate up to 24-13/16 inches — but it still needs a gravity run to daylight or a drain, sized at 13/16 inch nominal vinyl pipe or larger, with a PVC fitting where you transition. Outdoors, plan on a hurricane-rated condenser pad or wall bracket — the 63 lb cabinet is easily bracket-mounted — plus a weatherproof whip with disconnect.

Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly ships with this system?
Three pieces: the FFA09AVJU9 cassette, the RXV09AVJU9 outdoor condenser, and the BYFQ60C3W2W white decoration panel. The cassette also carries its own drain hose, clamps, sealing pads, washers, and installation template in the carton. Line set, interunit wire, and the wall controller are separate.
Why is the BRC1NRV71 controller not included?
Vista cassettes ship without any remote — no handheld, no wall unit. Daikin lists the BRC1NRV71 wired wall controller as required for this indoor unit, and it is the device you use for field settings such as air discharge pattern and filter interval, not just temperature. Without it the system cannot be commissioned, so add one per system.
How much depth do I need above the ceiling?
The cassette body is 11-3/4 inches tall and Daikin specifies a minimum clear ceiling void of 11-13/16 inches, before any added insulation. If the void runs above 86°F or 80% RH, add at least 3/8 inch polyethylene foam, which increases the depth needed. Measure the actual void, not the nominal joist depth.
What size ceiling opening does the cassette need?
A square opening of 23-1/16 to 23-7/16 inches, with suspension bolts on a 21 inch pitch. The finished decoration panel measures 24-7/16 inches square and overlaps the opening. Daikin calls it a 2x2 cassette because it suits a two-foot ceiling grid, but in a T-bar ceiling you will still be cutting and trimming a tile rather than dropping it straight in.
Is it quiet enough for a bedroom?
Yes. Indoor sound pressure is 38 dBA on high and 29 dBA on low — the quietest cassette in this range and well below a typical wall head at equivalent output. The outdoor unit runs at 49 dBA. Keep at least 3.3 feet between the unit and any television or radio to avoid interference.
Can this run on a 15 amp circuit?
Yes. Minimum circuit ampacity is 11.6 amps with a 15 amp maximum overcurrent protection — the lowest of the four Vista single zone systems. Do not fit a larger breaker; the maximum is a limit, not a target.
Do I need a separate condensate pump?
Usually not. The cassette has a built-in drain pump and float switch that lifts condensate up to 24-13/16 inches within 11-13/16 inches of the unit, then needs a gravity run sloped at 1/100 or steeper. An external pump is only worth adding where no gravity path exists at all beyond the lift.
