Daikin FFA15AVJU9 & RXV15AVJU9 — 1.25 Ton R-32 Vista Ceiling Cassette System
The FFA15AVJU9 Vista 2x2 cassette and RXV15AVJU9 R-32 inverter condenser deliver 14,400 BTU/h rated cooling and 16,200 BTU/h rated heating at 19.6 SEER2, 11.5 EER2, and 8.8 HSPF2. This is the size where the platform changes underneath: the outdoor unit moves to a larger 113 lb cabinet, the gas line steps up to 1/2 inch, and total piping capability jumps from 66 to 99 feet with 66 feet of vertical separation. That reach is what makes this size the practical choice when the condenser has to sit a long way from the room. The BYFQ60C3W2W white panel is included; the BRC1NRV71 wired controller is required and sold separately.
Is a 1.25 Ton Ceiling Cassette the Right Size?
At 14,400 BTU/h rated cooling this suits single spaces roughly 550 to 800 square feet, or smaller rooms carrying an unusual load — a west-facing conference room, a server closet adjacent to occupied space, a salon floor with heat-producing equipment, or a room with a lot of glass. Cooling modulates between 5,100 and 16,200 BTU/h; heating between 5,400 and 16,300 BTU/h, which is a narrower heating turndown than the smaller sizes offer.
Two planning notes specific to this size. First, the 1/2 inch gas connection means a 1/4 x 1/2 line set — a 1/4 x 3/8 set from a 09 or 12 job will not work, and this catches installers who assume the family shares one size. Second, the outdoor unit nearly doubles in weight to 113 lb in a 29-1/2 by 34-1/4 by 12-5/8 inch cabinet, so confirm bracket ratings before planning a wall mount.
Ideal for: Conference and board rooms, salon and studio floors, retail back-of-house, server and equipment rooms adjacent to occupied space, glassy sunrooms, and any install where the condenser must sit far from the room being conditioned.
Comparing sizes? The 1 ton FFA12AVJU9 uses the smaller 63 lb condenser and a 3/8 inch line set if your load is lower, and the 1.5 ton FFA18AVJU9 shares this same cabinet and 1/2 inch line set at higher output. Recommended room sizes are general guidelines only. Actual requirements depend on insulation, glazing, ceiling height, infiltration, internal heat gain, occupancy, and outdoor design temperature. The cassette, condenser, and white panel ship together. This size needs a 1/4 x 1/2 copper and wire line set — not the 1/4 x 3/8 set used by the 09 and 12 systems — available in 15, 25, and 50 foot lengths, with the 1/2 inch gas flare torqued to 36-1/2 to 44-1/2 lbf·ft. The 113 lb condenser is heavy enough that most installs go on a hurricane-rated condenser pad rather than a bracket. Also plan the service disconnect with a weatherproof whip and pull-out, and route the 1-1/32 inch condensate connection into rigid pipe using a PVC drain fitting. Line hide and insulation are stocked under mini split copper and accessories.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the outdoor unit so much larger than the 0.75 and 1 ton versions?
Daikin moves to a different chassis at this capacity. The 09 and 12 condensers share a 63 lb cabinet at 21-15/16 by 26-9/16 by 11-3/16 inches; the RXV15AVJU9 is 113 lb at 29-1/2 by 34-1/4 by 12-5/8 inches. The larger coil and fan are what buy the extra capacity, the longer piping allowance, and the low-ambient headroom.
Why does this size use a 1/2 inch gas line?
Higher mass flow needs a larger suction line. The gas connection is 1/2 inch and the liquid is 1/4 inch, so this system takes a 1/4 x 1/2 line set. A 1/4 x 3/8 set left over from a 09 or 12 install will not fit and cannot be adapted. This is the single most common ordering mistake across the Vista line.
What circuit does the 1.25 ton system require?
A 208-230V single-phase circuit with 16 amps minimum circuit ampacity and a 20 amp maximum overcurrent protection. That is a step up from the 15 amp maximum on the two smaller systems, so an existing 15 amp circuit will not serve this size.
How far can the line set run on this size?
Up to 99 feet total with a maximum 66 foot vertical separation — a substantial increase over the 66 feet and 49 feet allowed on the smaller systems. The unit is pre-charged for 49 feet; beyond that add 0.22 oz of R-32 per additional foot and record the total charge on the nameplate.
How does this compare with the 1.5 ton version?
They share the same 113 lb cabinet, 1/2 inch line set, 99 foot piping limit, and 20 amp circuit. The 1.5 ton produces more output at 17,400 versus 14,400 BTU/h cooling, but it rates lower on efficiency at 18.2 SEER2 against 19.6, and runs louder at 55 versus 52 dBA outdoors. If the load fits, this size is the more efficient and quieter of the two.
Can the outdoor unit go on a wall bracket?
Only with careful checking. At 113 lb this is roughly double the smaller Vista condensers, so confirm the bracket's rated capacity and that the wall structure can carry it, and account for strong wind and seismic loading per Daikin's installation guidance. Most installs at this size use a ground pad instead.
Which snow hood fits this outdoor unit?
The KPS063A41 intake side plate, KPS063A44 intake rear plate, and KPS063A47 outlet hood, which cover the 15, 18, and 24 cabinet sizes. Note these are not the same part numbers as the smaller 09 and 12 condensers, which use the KPS067 series. The matching drain pan heater for this cabinet is KEH064A41.
