Its 750-watt constant-airflow ECM 2.0 blower moves 1,136 to 1,807 CFM at full 5 ton capacity, while an electronic expansion valve and all-aluminum coil keep refrigerant control precise across the system's wide modulation range. The 24.5-inch multi-position cabinet goes in an attic, closet, basement, or crawlspace and runs on 115V or 208/230V power. For larger homes in colder climates, pair it with the GrandAire 15kW breakered heat strip.
Is a 5 Ton Air Handler the Right Size?
The WCVL605CD serves the top of the GrandAire WCVL range, covering 4 and 5 ton heat pump systems in larger homes, two-story houses on one system, and open floor plans. Its blower is set up through the control board for the airflow each matched outdoor unit needs, so one model handles both tonnages.
Airflow is where large systems succeed or fail. At up to about 1,800 CFM, the supply trunk, branch runs, and especially the return path have to be sized to carry it. Also confirm the space fits the 24.49" W x 21.02" D x 52.99" H cabinet and that the platform or support can carry its 162.92 lb.
