Refrigerant theft has been a well-known problem for years. However, an even larger problem is that most refrigerant is not being taken for resale, but is being consumed as a drug. Unfortunately, the 'high' or 'rush' and individual gets from 'huffing' is from the oxygen being displaced in their body. This has resulted in documented cases of brain injury and even death to individuals. Thus brings up to many County and State codes adopting a locking device to prevent such tragedies from occurring. 

Developed as a simple yet effective way to deter misuse, reduce venting and energy loss, provide protection from serious injury or liability and meet the new industry code. Novent locking caps seal standard service valves on Central A/C , Heat Pump and Mini Split Systems. They cannot be installed or removed without the special 'key' or applicable screwdriver tool. Novent products are available color-coded for R-22 (Green), R-410A (Pink), and A2L refrigerants (Silver or Red) such as R-454B, R-32.

Novent Uni Silver Caps in 1/4" or 5/16" Thread seal standard Schrader service valves on A/C units to prevent refrigerant leakage and potential injury or death. They require special tools for application and removal and are embossed and color-coded for easy identification. Proper installation helps prevent accidental refrigerant mixing in A/C systems.
