EcoTemp 95% Single Stage 100K BTU Gas Furnace, WFSX100C060B

The EcoTemp WFSX100C060B is a 100,000 BTU input, 97,000 BTU output condensing gas furnace engineered for larger homes and cold-climate heating loads that also need high-volume air conditioning airflow. Its 1 HP constant torque ECM blower carries a 2,000 CFM cooling designation (cooling range 375–2,145 CFM), so one furnace can handle both a demanding heating load and a large single-stage air conditioner. With 96.3% AFUE in upflow and horizontal installations, five burners, and a 21" cabinet, it is built for contractors and homeowners replacing big older furnaces with a high-efficiency, PVC-vented 92%+ gas furnace.

Is a 100,000 BTU Gas Furnace the Right Size?

A 100K furnace is intended for substantial heating loads: large single-family homes, homes in northern climates with low winter design temperatures, and older housing with higher air leakage. The WFSX product data directs installers to match furnace output to 100 percent of the calculated design heating load using ACCA Manual J and S, ASHRAE, or another approved engineering method.

At this capacity, airflow planning is as important as BTUs. The WFSX100C060B can move more than 1,800 CFM, and the manufacturer requires a bottom return, two side returns, or a bottom-and-side return combination with a minimum 20" x 25" filter whenever airflow exceeds 1,800 CFM. Duct size, return-air design, altitude derate, insulation levels, and the size of the matching air conditioner should all be confirmed before ordering.

Ideal for: Large homes, cold-climate furnace replacements, and split systems paired with an air conditioner up to a nominal 5 tons (2,000 CFM cooling designation).

Need more capacity? Step up to the EcoTemp 95% Single Stage 120K BTU Gas Furnace, WFSX120D066B for heat loads above 97,000 BTUh.

Recommended heating applications are general guidelines only. Actual furnace sizing depends on a heat-load calculation, insulation, climate, ductwork, elevation, and air-conditioning match. Request free sizing assistance, contact Budget Heating, or call 813-885-7999.

What's Included

Fuel Natural Gas (Propane with Factory Conversion Kit)
Blower Motor 1 HP Multi 18-Speed Constant Torque ECM
Airflow Positions Multi-Position: Upflow, Downflow, Horizontal Left/Right
Electrical 115V, Single Phase, 60 Hz — 20 Amp Max Breaker
Cabinet Width 21" W x 35" H

The WFSX100C060B combines a five-burner gas manifold, redundant White-Rodgers gas valve, and silicon nitride ignition with a 1 HP ECM blower turning an 11" x 10" wheel. At the default heating setting (#12) it moves 1,730 CFM at rated static. The 21" cabinet ships at 167 lb. Because unit ampacity is 16.7 amps, this size calls for 12 AWG minimum wire and a 20 amp time-delay breaker. Venting, filter rack or media cabinet, and thermostat are field supplied.

Frequently Asked Questions

What climate and home size fits a 100,000 BTU furnace like the WFSX100C060B?

The WFSX100C060B suits homes with a calculated heat loss near its 97,000 BTUh output, which is most common in larger homes and colder regions. A Manual J calculation is the only reliable way to confirm the fit, since insulation and air sealing can lower the load considerably.

What return-air setup does the WFSX100C060B need above 1,800 CFM?

When airflow exceeds 1,800 CFM, EcoTemp requires a bottom return, two-side return, or bottom-and-side return, with a minimum filter size of 20" x 25". A filter is required on each return-air inlet.

Why does the WFSX100C060B need a 20 amp breaker?

The 1 HP blower raises unit ampacity to 16.7 amps (11.7 FLA motor). The product data lists 12 AWG minimum wire and a 20 amp maximum fuse or breaker, time-delay type recommended, compared with 15 amps on the 40K–80K sizes.

Can the WFSX100C060B be paired with a 5-ton air conditioner?

The model's "060" suffix is a 2,000 CFM cooling designation, consistent with a nominal 5-ton single-stage system at 400 CFM per ton, and the blower's cooling range reaches 2,145 CFM. Confirm the coil and condenser match and duct capacity with your installer.

Is the WFSX100C060B approved for low-NOx air districts?

All WFSX sizes can be installed in air quality management districts with a 40 ng/J NOx emissions requirement. It does not meet the SCAQMD Rule 1111 14 ng/J limit, so California installations in that district may be subject to a mitigation fee.

How should I derate the WFSX100C060B at high altitude?

Gas input ratings are certified to 2,000 ft. For U.S. installations above 2,000 ft., reduce ratings 4 percent for each 1,000 ft. above sea level, per NFPA 54/ANSI Z223.1 and the furnace installation instructions. Vent length limits also drop with altitude.
