Amana PTAC Condensate Drain Kit for WS900QW Wall Sleeves, DK900QW
The Amana DK900QW Condensate Drain Kit controls the water a PTAC unit produces and routes it where it belongs instead of letting it drip down the building's exterior. Amana specifies it for all WS900QW wall sleeves. It works as a combination kit: drain the condensate outdoors from the left or right rear corner of the sleeve, or indoors through the sleeve bottom to the building's drain system. It is built for hotels, apartments, senior living, dorms and offices using Amana packaged terminal air conditioners and heat pumps.
Is the DK900QW the Right Drain Kit for Your PTAC?
PTAC units produce condensate in two ways. Water collects during cooling, especially in humid weather, and heat pump models also drain water from the outdoor coil during heating. That water drains from the chassis into the wall sleeve. The DK900QW links the sleeve to a field-supplied drain line so the water is carried away in a controlled way. Local codes decide whether condensate can drain outdoors or must be piped to an indoor drain, so check your jurisdiction's requirements before choosing a setup.
Amana lists the DK900QW for use with all WS900QW wall sleeves, its standard 42" wide × 16-1/16" high sleeve with a 14⅛" depth. Plan the drain before the sleeve goes in. For an indoor drain, the kit's parts mount to the sleeve bottom before the sleeve is installed in the wall. For an outdoor drain, they go on the rear of the sleeve before the outdoor grille is attached.
Ideal for: New PTAC installations and sleeve replacements in hotels, motels, apartments, assisted living, dormitories, hospitals and offices where condensate must be controlled to meet code and protect the building.

One kit covers both drain methods, so you can decide on-site whether condensate goes outside or into the building's drain system. The parts for the method you don't use can be set aside. The blank-off plates and gaskets seal whichever sleeve drain holes aren't in use to keep water and weather out. The kit is only a link between the unit and your drain system. You'll need to supply the tubing or drain line and connect it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which wall sleeve does the Amana DK900QW fit?
Amana specifies the DK900QW for use with all WS900QW wall sleeves. If you have an older sleeve, such as a WS900E, call us with the model number to confirm the right drain kit.
Can the DK900QW drain condensate indoors and outdoors?
Yes. It's a combination kit. You can drain outdoors from either rear corner of the sleeve, or indoors through the sleeve bottom to the building's drain system. Local codes decide which method is allowed.
Does the drain kit include tubing or a drain line?
No. The kit links the sleeve to a field-supplied drain system. For indoor drainage, connect a 1/2" ID tube or hose (not included) to the indoor drain fitting. Installing the kit without connecting it to a drain can lead to leaks and corrosion.
When should the drain kit be installed?
For indoor drainage, mount the drain parts on the sleeve bottom before the sleeve is installed in the wall. For outdoor drainage, install the drain fitting and blank-off plate on the rear of the sleeve before the outdoor condenser grille goes on.
Why does my PTAC produce water in the winter?
Heat pump PTACs drain water from the outdoor coil during normal heating operation, on top of the condensate they produce while cooling. That's why a drain kit matters year-round on heat pump models.
Can I use an algaecide in the PTAC base pan?
Amana warns that most algaecide products can damage the unit's base pan or coils and shouldn't be used. Contact Amana or your sales representative for the recommended pan treatment for your unit.
