Is 2,040 CFM of blower capability genuinely useful on a 4 ton system?
Yes, though not as a running setpoint. A 4 ton system targets roughly 1,600 CFM, and the value of a 2,040 CFM rating is the ability to reach that figure against real duct resistance — restrictive filters, long trunk runs, undersized returns, or multiple elbows. A blower operating well inside its capability also runs quieter and cooler than one near its limit.
Why choose 110,000 BTU input over 88,000 with 4 tons of cooling?
Climate and envelope. The 88,000 BTU/h version produces 72,000 BTU/h of output, appropriate for moderate winters. This one produces 90,000 BTU/h, which is what a 2,600 square foot home in the Upper Midwest or interior Northeast typically needs at design temperature. Cooling capacity and efficiency are identical between the two, so the choice is purely a heating decision.
Does a five-burner furnace change service or maintenance requirements?
The tasks are the same as any 80% AFUE single stage furnace, just across more burners: inspection and cleaning of each burner, flame sensor service, heat exchanger inspection, and verification of manifold pressure and temperature rise.
