Refrigerant theft has been a well-known problem for years. However, an even larger problem is that most refrigerant is not being taken for resale, but is being consumed as a drug. Unfortunately, the 'high' or 'rush' and individual gets from 'huffing' is from the oxygen being displaced in their body. This has resulted in documented cases of brain injury and even death to individuals.

Developed as a simple yet effective way to deter misuse, reduce venting and energy loss, provide protection from serious injury or liability and meet the new industry code. Novent® locking caps seal standard service valves on Central A/C , Heat Pump and Mini Split Systems. They cannot be installed or removed without the special 'key' or applicable screwdriver tool. Novent products are available color-coded for R22 or R410 refrigerants.

Novent Caps meet section 1101.10 of the 2009 International Mechanical Code (IMC) and section M1411.6 of the 2009 International Residential Code(IRC) - the requirement of the refrigerant circuit access ports located outdoors to be fitted with locking-type tamper-resistant caps.
